We were about to go metal detecting for the day in the country with our AT Pro but noticed the batteries were running low. Heaven forbid if they died while we were out, so decided to replace them before we left. Unfortunately the battery holder fell to the ground and snapped at the top end where the battery connects! Devastated!!! This piece of plastic is thin and not strong at all. Fortunately some cellotape (actually heaps of the stuff) managed to hold it together. As we are in Australia we went on ebay and discovered we can get a new one at a cost of about $8.00 but the postage was ....... $70.00!!!! Has anyone else had a problem like this??? (We are now looking at a Minelab E-Track!)

Did you contact Garrett (E-Mail) directly? Based on everything I have read on the Forum - just about everyone that has had a problem with any part of the AT Pro and contacted Garrett - got the replacement parts free - just a thought...

Thankyou vpnavy! We will email them and see how we go! Thankyou so much

$70.00 That seems a little much. I've had Items from individuals sent to me from Australia and it was nowhere near that amount.
I guess you have tried different vendors. I guess vpnavys suggestion is probably your best best.

Yes Digger2, a lot of international ebay sellers put ridiculous postage on items. See that happen a lot ... maybe they don't want to sell to us Aussies :unhappysmiley:. We will email Garrett and see what happens.

I have tried the ones on Ebay and found that they do not work as they are just a tad shorter than the original Garrett ones. When mine broke I just called up Garrett customer service and they sent me out 2 replacements at no cost.
Their customer service is second to none.

Thanks for the tip choppadude. Seems like Garrett are awesome! Hope they will send to Australia :)

UPDATE! I have just emailed Garrett in Australia so hopefully their customer service is as good as it is in America. I'll keep you posted. Thankyou for all your tips, much appreciated
