also you can get "bar ends" for a bicycle for pretty darn cheap on ebay and the work great.

I picked up a pair of BMX handle bar ends.

I pulled off my rubber and welded a washer on the end then put abit of silicone one the end and slid the rubber handle back down and after hours of use has not cut the end like my first one did
