I've found the Garrett to be finicky at times. If you read through the posts, you'll find other references. My fix has been to keep a good, fresh battery in it and I put a quarter under the cap to make the battery contact pressure stronger. So far that's been working pretty well.

Thanks I'll give that a go

I just received mine this week.... Used it yesterday for the first time and loved it! It sure speeds up time sifting through dirt and unnecessary digging. Hopefully if I have any issues I'll remember this tweak.

I tried the quarter under the cap and it seemed to take care of my problem. thanks again. happy hunting

So even the vaunted Garret pin pointer has a tweak to fix a fitment problem. And here I thought that thing was THE perfect tool. Don't get me wrong, I know it is one dickens of a good pinpointer, just a shame it has this odd thing one of them does every now and then. We humans strive for perfection but we can only get so close but not all the way there all the time..........................63bkpkr
