Has anyone had a problem with their Garrett Pro-Pointer AT where it only beeps when it's actually touching the target? I've put mine through a lot of tough digging and it used to alert when a target was a few inches away but now it has to be touching the target to alert. I've tried all 6 settings, both audible and silent, tried replacing the battery with a brand new Duracell and Energizer but it still isn't functioning correctly. Has this happened to anyone? I know the Chinese knockoffs only alert when touching the target but I received this one as a refurbished replacement directly from Garrett. Thanks in advance for any help.

I would call garrett ASAP and talk with them. They are outstanding people to work with. They will get ya fixed up! Be sure to tell them I sent you.

mine is starting to act up where it doesnt beep and I have to hit it to get it to work correctly sometimes. Its been tough and I have put through the paces.

I had to send mine in yesterday due to nearly the same issue. Over the last month sensitivity has decreased noticably and I've had to use the highest setting to find anything. It would also start falsing once in a while when it was left on for a couple minutes. Frustrating! It never acted like this before. Not sure if it matters but mine is one of the older carrots, pre ordered it in 2/15 before they went on the market and easily has over 100 hours on it. Hope it comes back soon, fixed and ready to find more treasure. :unhappysmiley:

Try turning it on with your arm fully extended away from you.

Thanks for all of the replies and I've been emailing back and forth with Hilda over at Garrett. I'm sending mine in and I also bought a replacement that just came yesterday. This time I plasti dipped the bottom 4 inches of the wand. This new one seems great and just testing it out makes me think of how great the old one was before it decided it didn't want to work anymore. I'm going out to the beaches again today because Hurricane Matthew took about 4 feet of sand away and there's no telling what can be found now. Google "Cannonballs on Folly Beach". This is the beach I hunt at the majority of the time. Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

Does the sensitivity change when you ground balance it? Aquachigger has a nice video on YouTube about gb.

Mine began to act up when I left it in the back of my truck at night. My thinking is that moisture would build up on the inside from condensation. Once I kept it inside no more problems

They always treat me good with problems. Had a bad one a few years ago and they replaced it in a jiffy.

My pointer will pick up the item from a good distance, side and point
