Found this on a horse farm in middle Tennessee. I can date the home on this particular property to 1909. Possibly older.
Neat piece. Reminds me of a funerary item. Possibly from a graveyard. Appears to be a representation of an evergreen tree; emblematic of eternal life. I could be wrong too! Just a guess.

I think it's just a decorative item. My wife has something like that in a Christmas tree looking version. The two parts slide apart thankfully so we can store it flat for the 11 months a year we don't have it out.

Now that you mention it does resemble an evergreen tree

It's definitely decorative...I put it on the side tale next to my chair on the back porch 🤣

Don't really know about your find but I love the hound dog. Had blueticks back in the day. Bloodhound or redbone?
120 pounds of Bloodhound..June Carter Hash Unfortunately she's no longer with us.
