Geo. Washington's Delaware Crossing
I was just curious if anyone has ever found any possible camp sites from George Washington's Delaware river crossing of 1776? The actual crossing site is now a state park in Buck's Co. PA, but I believe the camps would be outside of this area on the NJ side. It is said that when the 2400 men crossed the Delaware they marched 10 miles downstream to Trenton to fight the Hessians. After the battle they marched "a few days" to Princeton to fight the British. It would stand to reason that in between Trenton and Princeton should be at least one fair sized camp. It was December, after a battle, and after at least two marches... the men must have rested. These would most likely be back yard type finds now since the area has been built up rather extensively.
If anyone has ever found anything linked to this, I'd love to see some pics!
