IMO it's not worth getting graded. I'm not sure of the current prices for doing so, but I think you'll spend nearly as much as the coin is worth in grading/shipping costs.

A coin loaded with history.
Is your intent to keep or sell?
You might also contact Heritage Auctions for their opinion.
Don in SoCal.
Not really sure which I want to do. If nothing else, I need to get a sleeve for it

The Chinese silver coins of that period are so interesting. As for grading, the foreign coins cost more and would probably eat up most to all of the potential value of your coin. Some of the rarer and higher denomination Chinese coins have to be graded. Even back then the marketplace was full of debased specimens and contemporary counterfeits.

I bought this one at a flea market for $1 after I saw that it was a coin with German on one side and an asian language on the other. The German text reads "Deutsch Kiautschou Gebiet 5 Cent 1909". It turns out this came from a German colony in China and is allegedly worth $30-50 depending on the grade. Should I send this to get graded?
Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!
