Realize not a comb,but havent a clue what it is....measures 10.5 inches long by 3,just under 1/8th inch thick.Found at cellar hole in central Ma that appears active on 1858 map.

Is it lead? Reminds me of battery lead, but I would think that's too big.

A really big harmonica! joking...

My uncle owns a farm in western Mass that was once a sheep farm. Maybe something for combing wool in the day in prep for spinning?

Okay my turn to guess....I am guessing music....player piano....they run over the cylinder ?? How long are player piano cylinders???

Actually the teeth vary in size..not sure if done on purpose or not.

But wouldn't the teeth be of different sizes to produce different notes?

Wouldnt the "reeds" have to be flexible to create the sound...these are very rigid?
