Gilt Bridle Rosette & Flower Cufflink

Had a lot of heavy rain yesterday, no detecting spent the day driving backroads & found 2 promising sites, hope to hit one or both tomorrow.
had only an hour to detect today, so I went back to the area that yielded the
William & Mary copper.
Dug a nice rosette, lots of gilt in the incused pattern.
looks like an old design to me.
Also, an octagonal button,(excuse the cat hair) never saw one like it,
Can anyone help with approximate age of these from their design?

You found a typical mid-1700s cufflink. I dug one at a site that produced some Colonial coppers and early-American cents.

the 'button' is part of a cufflink (late 18th C)

I was thinking of tossing the cufflink into my flat button box without cleaning.
I'm Pleased to have found a flower on it after a peroxide bath.
should have ID'ed this myself, I have an octagonal cufflink pair that was passed to me
the backs on these are pins, not loops
