Worked a trail overrun with briers. Progress was very slow going but came away with this glass faced rosette. It is 1 1/2 wide with a 1/4 inch thick glass face with a big fancy letter K and a brass back plate. Looks like it had a gold background with a black letter K. Must have been a real special K. Arty

Those are so interesting! I have yet to uncover one. :icon_scratch: antique glass domed rosettes adorned the bridles of horses and were very popular, and were often embroidered with initials or family farm name.
 

Thanks guys, I wonder where the company that manufactured these was located and the year. The font used on the one I found is the same as your rosette Neil.
 

Been able to dig a couple of those myself. Both of mine have horses in them. There one of my favorite things in my display cases. Dont see them posted very often. :icon_thumleft:

Based on the other finds in the area I found it in I would have to say that these are late 19th century.

nice find... i found one identical to yours with beveled glass edge too.. found it a year ago in eastern pa. i thought it might be a rosette, thanx for confirming my hunch..
