Found this serving tray piece in the rafters of a barn. The barn was built in 1796 but was used and occupied up until at least 1989 --- so not really helpful. It is approximately 10" by 6". The body is whitish and kind of porous (sucks up water - i tried to clean the spot that's chipped on the one handle and was suprised how it sucked up the water)
The glaze in the "bowl" is orangeish brown with metallic black flecks. The bottom has the pattern pictured. I'm trying to figure out the type of glaze and the age. I'm guessing early 20th century.
It's not uniform -- out of round, handles are different, body thickness varies, handle indents are different - so i assume it was homemade. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks.
