Seamuss, go to www.ghosttowns.com and see what you find there. I've use it to detect SW Montana a few times and have used it many times to detect in New Mexico.

Lots of stuff to look at, some great historical places, many old mines - and gold - is found in and around Virginia City - we loved it there.

I did get to your wonderful state for a couple of weeks this summer. Got a few sapphires in Phillipsburb(Gem Mountain) and some gold in the Libby area. I filled a two ounce vial mostly full of gold in five days, talked and sightseeing more then I prospected. The sapphires were great also. Got about two dozen small ones and three medium size gems.

P-Burg (Philipsburg) is a great place to detect. There is also a ghost town near there that I hit 2 times.....didn't really find anything good, but will hit it again for a few days this coming yr. If anyone wants to know where ghost towns are, just mention in what section of the state you're interested in.
As for the Libby area, I'm not familiar with it, but I did spend 2 nights near Libby up in a fire tower that a bunch of us rented from the U S Forest Service many snows ago.
