If this is old news, feel free to delete. (edit- not sure why the video posted twice and I'm not sure what part of the code to remove)
I just came across this Nov. 2008 video about researchers using metal detectors to find three plates, made of precious metals, inside crop circles. The plates have the pattern of the crop circle cast into them.
The metal detecting comes into discussion at 4:15 into the video. They even tell you what part of a crop circle to search!

Crop circles have been described as elaborate hoaxes, but three gold , silver, and bronze plates of that size have to be fairly expensive to create. So what do you think? Expensive and elaborate hoax? Or something else?
