gold coin in change?

The odds would be very low.

Why?

Even though they have just .5 MM of diameter size difference, the weight difference would be huge, a Loonie weighs about 7 grams, the 1/2 oz eagle weighs 15.5 grams, over twice the difference. The Loonie is also 11 sided and has smooth, the Eagle has a reeded edge and doesn't have multiple sizes. While it would be quite possible to find one in a roll, I think the odds of a cashier not noticing the fact that this single coin was decidedly not a Loonie are very, very, very, low. Perhaps she was just trying to get rid of her mistake before her boss came? But surely the cashier would have looked at it and saw that it said gold on it.
