If it ever happens again, go to an emergency department at a hospital. They have ring cutters. Probably won't cost you anything. We have one on the ortho unit where I work.

John i really do not think that a hospital will do any thing for free if any thing they will charge you a lot more than any place else.

Next time, just go to the beach, 1,..put some sun tan lotion on 2. Put hand in cool beach water. 3. Allow finger to shrink. 4. Now toss frisbee or football to buddy for awhile. I hear this works very well.

Guys// I'm 80 yrs old and the nuckels are about 50% larger than the finger no loushen -or other was going to get it off/// also needed to measure, resize and add to the ring---I thought I did OK////

I would never charge anyone just to remove ring, such as your scenario. That's just being plain greedy for something that take a couple of minutes. For under $25.00, you could have purchased a ring remover, then resold it it a few dollars loss. Something to keep in mind for anyone reading this post.

Glad you are still active metal detecting! A great hobby which can add years and better health to your life.

I guess I still have not said it rite // the cutting off was free the sizing. and adding the gold for 2 sizes reshaping etc $90.

That happened to me one with a silver ring a few years back. I woke up and my finger was extremely swollen and starting to turn colors. I took out the trusty dremel and with a steady hand made a deep score in it and finished it off with a set of pliers. It got hot as hell, but I survived the ordeal. :hello2:
