Hey,
Just moved up here and would like to do some gold panning. I did some research and saw that the UP had gold in the beach sand. can any of you recomend a location to go. I am in Grayling and all these rivers seem to be sand bottom but I was going to go over to Kalkaska and hit that river. But I was looking for some think like the beaches. Any info would be greatly appreciated. :help:

I don't know if you area GPAA member. But if you are the gravel pit in Sebawa has lots of flour gold. I think you have to call before you go. I will check on that later this week for you an post it with the addess if I can find it......Matt

Here is the address if you would like to pan for gold this is open to GPAA members and their guests

U might wanna check with the dnr website on your river, trout streams are closed to panning and sluicing

IMHO

I'm just a humble hunter of minerals and space rocks, and recently, after having accidentally findin a little Au in AZ in the fall 2011, well now I have the gold fever.
Very quickly I figured out that the criminals in lansing, that is bunches of appointed state employees, NOT elected legislator/law makers have took it upon
themselves to side with bunches of green Nazis and make it (supposedly illegal) to, in any way, clean the environment or to benefit wildlife by panning, sluicing,
highbanking, or dredging, period!!!!!! It has repeatedly been proven that these activities do just that. Nonetheless, don't you dare attempt to generate a single
dime by plucking from the ground, metal that has value on land that belongs to we the people, the mining act is outdated and does NOT apply here!!!!!
All clear water gravel bottom cricks and streams ARE designated trout streams whether named or not, period!!!! You can pan fer gold in pert near any silt-filled,
clay bottom crop drain (where you will never find a speck!) but that's OK, knock yerself out, but don't ever even look at a natural crick that might have a little
glacial gold. There is no mich. law written by legislators that prohibit prospecting, only rules and policies written by corrupt, self serving state employees.
These rules and policies are merely guidelines that I can choose to follow or not. Unfortunately I don't have buttloads of money to give to a lawfirm to legally
fight the various corrupt agencies so I need to keep my activities covert and on private land where I've painstakenly spent hours and days knocking on doors and
getting permission. This was my take on Fri. 8-30-2013 (Oh, and sorry fer my rant) finish.webp
