Hope it is gold ;) That'd be a pretty darn cool find.

Copper, bronze and similar metals containing copper would be greenish... That's gold :)

Any idea if it's a nugget or a piece of broken jewelry that has been tumbled for years?

Looks like a nugget to me, but I could be wrong

Honestly, I'd weigh it... Then I'd go back to that beach with a gold detector :)

Tell me what kinda weight you're dealing with

The pictures look like gold... hope you found a nugget!

Do you have a photo with better white balance and more saturation?
On my computer it looks like lead.

I hope its gold or platinum though. :)

99% sure it's not lead... As a bullet caster and machinist, I have seen lots and lots of metal. Worst case scenario, you found a recently melted low-copper content piece... Which is possible on the beach, but it doesn't have the brass/broze characteristics. But I'm also not a rocket-surgeon... So what do I know

Simply walk into any pawn shop and have it checked for free-John

If it's a nugget it could be from a sunken pirate ship or a ship returning from the California gold fields that didn't make it.....but the edges look rough for being in the water for any period of time.

It's the second nugget I've heard of being found on the beach. I don't see why they can't be there :3

I'm sure we can find gold literally anywhere. I mean, at one time, lake bonneville was covering a massive chunk of the U.S... I'm sure it had one hell of a river pushing material pretty far :3

My test kit should be here tomorrow or Friday and I will let yall know results. I will weigh it this afternoon and give yall the weight

Go to a pawn shop or Jeweler if your in town. :)

I got my test kit in today and it didnt pass the 10k test. I am surpirsed because it sure feels and looks like gold to me.

Pyrite breaks and doesnt bend. Who knows what it could be :0

put a torch to it, if it melts then its lead like I said.
If it tarnishes then it may be silver.
If it doesn't tarnish then it could be platinum.
