Gold Plated Spoon & a horse shoe~

I found the horse shoe near a site where a college building stood from 1926 to 1961. The gold plated spoon I found in a friends yard in Houma Louisiana while visiting there Saturday.

Is your gold plated spoon sterling silver under the plate or base metal ? Argentium.

I think it's a base metal, doesn't look sterling.
