Spotted this amazing vintage diamond ring while mudlarking the low tide today.
The ring is 5.5g of 10K gold and is encrusted with more diamonds than I can count!
I think it was lost for a very long time, maybe as far back as the prohibition-era.
There are many broken pieces of glass and ceramic jug shards in the area and the most recent coin I was able to find was a penny from 1935, all others (3 pennies) were too toasted to discern the dates.
Local people from the area inform me that during Prohibition there was a 'speakeasy-barge' that was tied to some pilings in the area where people would go to party on the water back in the day. I found old
remains of wooden pilings in the low tide mud and assumed this is where the barge must have been. I in turn found the coins, shards, and the gold ring in the area. Tide was coming in so I had to leave, but will be back as soon as I can to recover more

WOW That is a beauty
You maybe right about the era. The baguette cut of stone was created in the early 20th century from about the 1920s to 1930s.

Keen eye! I think it's from the 60-70s. When I read mudlarking, I thought you were in England, lol.

Nice spotted diamond fish

I'll bet you can find somebody to count them.

Nice find and good eagle eyes. :icon_thumright:

Well,,, let me tell all you experts who are of the opinion that the ring was made during the 60's or 70's.
That ring falls into the category of "Cocktail Ring"
Very popular during prohibition and almost always 10kt. The stones were not usually of high quality diamonds and were sometimes referred to as "Chips"
Congrats on the eyeball find. I have a feeling I know where you were hunting.

One sweet eyeball find!
Congrats!

Finally got around to counting the diamonds, there are 32 of them. 1 little round one in the center, 6 round ones around that one, 6 round ones on the next level down, 8 round ones on the bottom level, 6 square ones on the outside left edge, and 5 square ones on the outside right edge. It took longer than I thought, but it turned out to be possible to count them after all!

I agree with the 70 era of this ring. Cocktail rings have changed a lot over the years and this to me says 70's all over it. Not even 60s and definitely not 80's. But you also found pennies from the 30's People have a tendency to visit places in all generations. Its not like the person that dropped this was the first person ever there:) shoot archeologists have found sites with 2 ancient cities buried on top of each other Go get the gold from the 30's!

Cocktail ring or not, still a stunning find ;)

Kewl find congrats!!!

Awesome eyeball find for sure!!
