Gold ? Still can't believe it .

So I found this Ring the other day at an old 1923 School. Didn't think much of it so I just put it under glass in my display case. After arriving home today from an under productive hunt, all clad and a junk pendant ( photos posted ) , I decided to test this tiny Ring. Low and behold it held up all the way through 22K ! That's the highest acid that I have. I just still can't believe it. The Ring is slightly discolored around where a Stone use to be and there is no stamp, although I found a beautiful 1890-1910 era Cigar Band Ring that is 12K with no stamp. Is there any pseudo gold Metal that can hold up to a 22K acid test ? Your thoughts please.

Good looking ring.

Love the ring, but I have never tested gold, can't help there.

Supposedly, no. Got yourself some gold!!! Should be pretty dang dense at that karat!
Drop in water and watch it hit bottom hard.

hope its real. what does it weigh? It looks like some of the junk rings I have dug in the past but that may only be the photos. Good Luck

The ring looks good but the second piece is definitely not gold. Zooming in I can see where the playing has chipped off. Sometimes gold plating will hold up to 22k acid Make sure when you are rubbing the ring on the stone you are getting a nice good run through the plating if there is any

Here is the test results from testing a ring I found last weekend
From left. 10k 14k. 18k. Still held at 18kImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443270158.053879.webp

You can see how hard I rubbed the stone to get through the top layer

Yes I already knew the pendant was junk but a cool find so I posted some pics. Tested the ring again. Still holds at 22K. Looking like it's real.

Awesome! Congrats always test what your not sure of.
My test kit just tell me if it's gold or not.

Nice Ring, The mark could be worn off?
Some Early Jewelry was not marked, just can not recall when the powers that be said all jewelry had to be marked W/ K= Purity.

FWIW- I purchased a test kit a year or 2 ago & only used it once. Just lazy I guess. lol
I do have a nice little pile of Dug & parking lot found Gold & Silver looking pieces to test.
Guess sometime ill make a day for testing everything.

Again Nice Ring , Maybe Homemade?? or made Locally ?
Davers

Tmosc gold is always a good find. Congrats

Congrats
It looked good in the pic. The ring I posted above had no makings either

I would take the ring to the jeweler's and have it checked. Stainless steel will pass all acid test 10 to 22k. A couple of things, the way the ring is bent up is a good sign for Higher K because it is soft. When scratching the ring was it easy, soft, or rather hard and more effort was needed to leave a mark..SS is tuff to leave a mark...All of the high K I have found have been more of a deeper rich yellow color but I have seen one 22k white gold band which is rare, but I can tell you this..You just never know sometimes.. A profession could tell you real quick...Good Luck and a fine hunt no matter what!

If the scratch test is iffy try a small file and get a little deeper in the ring then put the acid right were u filed...that should give u a good result!
