Gold with flashlight

How much does gold sit at the top of bed rock etc? If so would using a flashlight illuminate it up through the water so you can find it easily?

You can find many many bright yellow flakes with a flashlight at the bottom of a creek or river...much quicker than digging and panning.

Gold is not florescent. Where you see it glowing in those testing videos, It's been treated (painted) with florescent paint to make it show up under UV light.

If you need a flashlight to see gold on bedrock you're either working at night or under water. Sunlight in my experience is much better for seeing gold.

I heard it works best if you chain yourself to a sack of rocks before you jump in....and best if you make sure the water is at least ten feet over your head.

Flashlight? pfft- amatuers! I'm all about the underwater dowsing- seriously I mean it. No really I got custom rust proof fiberglass dowsing rods and everything- I get the gold!

I put vmat on the bottom of my boots...it works great....that way I don't have to bend over when I see the gold on the bottom....I do this kinda chicken dance I'm sure it's funny to see from the boat....scrape scrape turn...sometimes I even cluck in my head.....I was using gold hog on my waders but when I would hit pays treats my feet would just plain get stuck....the stuff holds onto gold so well....that's why I don't bother using a sluice anymore....that and all of them are only 10% efficient anyway

I'll stick with my sluice if I catch more than 10% of the gold in my kingdom it's to heavy to carry out. Nuggets so big we use them for anchors.

Alexias2, what you really need is some kind of magnet to drag over that bedrock.

Absolutely. A powerful rare-earth magnet will grab a piece of gold
ore, and since most nuggets have some iron content it grabs them too.

I use a powerful 2 lb'er on a halibut rod and drag the bottom of the deepest
holes in the river. If you're not dragging up 4-5 ounces per hour then it's time
to change to a new spot.

I've been thinking about giving up coinshooting for gold hunting. So, let me see if I got this straight... Tie a big magnet onto a fishing pole, cast it into the Mississippi, let it sink to the bottom and then just reel in the gold?!?

Now, you have to understand that golds gonna have some rust on it
after being on that river bottom for so long.

Take the best pieces you can drag up and work them over well with a
wire brush (just down to the bare gold), then set them out in front of
your house with $1000 price tags on them and wait for some city dweller
to come buy them as "antique" ornaments for their front lawn.

Take that $1000 and go buy gold.
