Got home Saturday afternoon from Florida, and got back in the woods on Monday afternoon. The high was just 22F, but I just wear my cold weather hunting gear. Took out the AT Max since I left it home while in Florida, and the 5x8 coil was just the right one for working around all the fallen debris.

Managed to find five different headstamps, along with some misc iron and large square nails. I’ve dug some of these headstamps in these woods about 1/2 mile away, and they’re all from the 20’s & 30’s. This part of the woods is closer to the road where the original homestead was before the family donated this land to the county park system. Still looking for my first vintage coin here...the hunters in these woods had to lose some when digging in their pockets while hunting. Time and patience will deliver!

The shock was that Sunday was the first day in over two weeks that I didn’t metal detect. (I even ran the detector over the dog walk area behind the hotel parking lot...no finds except for doggy bombs!):o:o

Good post welcome back to the cold.

Glad you got out! :icon_thumleft:

Nice finds in tough conditions.
