Hi all, Haven't posted much lately as the finds have been thin and far between. Took a little road trip to check some banks that usually produce and I got some good silver from trays and CWRs. No boxes. Also got an absolute "first" from one roll. It's a 1964 Kennedy with both sides "heads". I'm certain that it's a "trick coin", but I'm having a tough time getting it open. I have a "trick coin" opener, but still can't get it open even with a little olive oil. I'll let it soak a while and try again with shaking it in a thick beer mug. I'm surprised that someone made a "trick coin" out of two a 90% silver Kennedy's. Must have been made a long time ago when silver was worth peanuts. Anyway, I'll keep you posted with a photo when I can get the darn thing open. Today's totals are as follows with a tribute to our dear friend Rich Hartford. I know he was shining down on me today. Thanks Rich....R.I.P.

Nice picture and nice tribute! Good hunting.

Nice haul Rileyboy. Rich would have been proud! :icon_sunny: Hope "Riley the silver sniffin' dog" was with you on this journey.

Miss him dearly. Thinking about him a great deal.

awesome finds!!! PS ive found 1 of the double headed trick coins.....they in fact DO NOT come apart...i broke mine open only to find that i had broken a glue seal keeping it together...the point of the coin is so you can always win the coin flipping contest...hope this helps! keep it up and hh! Hey Chainchomp,
You are correct!. Thank's for the info on the trick coin. I soaked it to try and loosen it, but no luck.
Then I started thinking that if it were a "hollow Trick coin" then why would they have both sides heads. Then realized it was a "no loose" flip trick coin and is glued shut. Interesting that it's made with two 1964 90% silver kennedy's. Anyway....I'll save it in my collection of "Interesting finds".
I have a feeling that Rich was "playing" with me on this coin.
Thanks again for your info and help.

Funny thing. The last few road trips have been grim but every time I pull out a single silver coin towards the end of the trip. And yes I hold the coin up towards the roof of my car and say thanks dad :)

Scoobasteve,
Hang in there, buddy. Your dad will always be shining down on you and your family.
God Bless,
rileyboy
