Evening all. I picked up some penny rolls after work today. Some of them were in hand rolls while others were machine rolled. I opened the first of the handrolled and saw a solid roll of wheats. Most of the next rolls were either solid rolls of wheats or a mix with many from the 1960s that still had the mint luster on them.
Figured my luck with older pennies was spent and wasn't going to find much in the machine rolls. Wrong, about the 2nd roll in is a 1902 Indian cent. Then, as i'm grouping the wheats into groups of the decade they were minted, i spot another Indian head, a beat up but legible 1892.There was also 16 steel pennies mixed in( 2 of the steels look like they came right out of the mint) and a foreign coin i can't identify. Also, i don't know if it's unusual but i spotted a 1974-d in which the mintmark looked like it was very low on the coin.
The wheats are grouped from the 50s to the teens from left to right. Thanks for looking.Good luck. MM2

Nice finds - can't see the foreign coin that well. Can you post the other side?

the foreign coin is a Vatican 5 Centesimi. pretty cool, don't see many vatican city coins.

that's one awesome day with the Wheats. any good mint marked wheats in there? the steels look great.

Wow, those steels and IH's are awesome.

Wonderful finds. The IHs are great, and the Vatican coin is a rarity to find. We haven't seen many on the CRH board at ALL.

Congrts. :-)

Awesome. Love the Vatican coin and the Steelies too. Huge score!!

I think that low mint mark is an error. Not sure though. I've looked at lots of pennies lately and haven't seen a low mm like that.

Thanks for that info. No key dates but there is a 1915,1927-s,1912,1928-d,1910,1914.and some other early dates in there.Got to get back there and see if they have any more, imade 3 bank stops so it's got to be one of three.

Finding caches is the best part about this hobby. I love seeing a big pile of coins at the end of a hunt. Nice job!!!!

Those steelies look ridiculous. Better than some who have them tucked away in flips. Nice score. I hope you find the rest of the cache.

Sweet score!!!!!

Thanks again. I gave the vatican coin to a teller that i think is from Italy that orders boxes of coins for me regularly. She really appreciated it and a good deed goes a long way in this hobby.4 boxes of halves to go thru tonight and a box of dimes. Wish me luck.MM2
