Happy Thanksgiving Everyone,

Before I get stuffed today with turkey and fixins, I thought I'd make a post from yesterday's hunt with DanaPointMike and DanaPointVal. We went to our local deadhorse park and all struck silver.

I found some cool items that I hope someone can give me more info on. First, is the sterling spoon piece of jewelry in the upper right of my pic. Did people really make rings/earrings out of old spoons? This sure looks like what I found.

The token I found is another interesting find. One side says, "Good For One Package of Mints", while the back has a set of #'s, 35054. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Finally, I found my oldest Mexican silver coin yesterday. It was as close to finding a Reale as I've ever been. ::) It's an 1893 10 Centavos. My buddy, Jon, found a pic of it for me last night, so I posted it along with my actual coin for better detail. There's a set of numbers/letters on the reverse which I haven't a clue what it means. It's stamped "ZsZ 902, 7". Any ideas?

So, all in all, it was a great pre-Turkey hunt. After going back to this park countless times this year, it is still producing some cool finds.

Happy Thanksgiving All!

Dan

You need to change your name to the "Silver King" SE.....Don't know how you do it but keep on keepin' on.Congrat's and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Dan, congrats on that 1893 Mexican wilver. My uncle found a 1909 10 Centavos about 10 years ago in Central PA. Man, you never cease to amaze me!

Hmmm...could the letters signify some kind of counterstamp?

Captn,

The silverware ring is a neat find. I've seen this sort of thing a lot at art fairs. There are some really cool bracelets that people make out of two forks as well. They sort of open and then clasp shut around the wrist. Rings and bracelets are what I've seen mostly.

Yo, Dan, whazzzzz up, my friend? You kicked some metal detecting butt again.

Congrats on more old wilver! Post those other videos now, damn it! :D

Dan,
Great finds. Way to go on that 1895.
I remember spoon jewelry being a big fad in the 70's.
Nice piece.

Beautiul digs Dan. I honestly believe the best finds are coming after the site is supposedly hunted out. It'e especially fun hunting a place that's produced so many times before because you know there's always a chance of plucking out another silver.

Very nice finds Dan---That silver spoon ring is way cool.

Dan,
Here is a Centava I found earlier this year.

Don.....

Don, Thanks very much for that info on the Mexican silver. Hmm...Z for Zacatecas mint. You helped me to verify that the 10 Centavos coin was actually bigger than our American silver dimes (2.5 grams) also.

Thanks T-bucket for your pic of your spoon ring, and thanks everyone for your replies. I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was a good one!

Thanks

Great day and more silver to boot. I got beat to the wire on your spoon ring, Dan. In the 70's spoon rings were the rage of the day. What's the total on the silver now? HH buddy

Captn SE,
