I hit a small antique store just an hour ago on the way home and got this 7 1/8 inch sugar shaker for $17.80.... It ain't marked sterling and all stuff marked ster. in the store was way over priced. They even had a pair of short weighted candlestick for $22.00 each, not for the pair, it was for each candlestick and a small weighted salt & pepper set for $67.00. I was on my way out the store shaking my head over their outrageous prices when I spotted this shaker. This little gem isn't weighted and weigh in at 118 grams. I found the maker to be a Birmingham silver maker Adie Bro's and the production date is 1958. The bottom says Made in England for J.D. Caldwell & Co. That was my tip its a half a$$ed good piece. And they even cleaned it.

Nice piece. Possibly the artisan just failed to put the sterling mark on it. Humans will be human. Great find regardless.

They did mark it, see the third hallmark that is the British hallmark for sterling. Great find you scored! Good luck!.............Scott.

Nice buys tamrock. Thanks for sharing...

Not sure this was missed, as the lion hallmark is one of the most common besides the glaring "STERLING" that is often found on silver pieces.

Lion Passant facing left. Great find
