good spot but very, very junkie--need advice on White's

I'm located in the Hattiesburg, MS area and recently drove by the downtown train station. Just across the street, there is a large area that has been bulldozed, all the ground turned up. I spent several hours searching today in much frustration. There is sooo much junk I really couldn't make out heads or tails. Literally, I couldn't go two inches without the detector going crazy. I found a few coins but all were modern. Can anyone give me advise on what I can do to help weed through the junk to better locate coins? I have a whites 6000 DI Pro sl. Thanks!

Smaller coil. Higher discrimination setting.

Keith is right on about the smaller coil. It is the only way to get fewer objects in the field. You can also turn down the sensitivity by half. Modern detectors operate very well at only half. The other half seems to do more harm than good.
