I found the heel plate with the heart last week at the same site. The one with two hole appears home made. Noticed the holes aren't spaced the same. The buttons were found within a foot of each other. The bigger one reads A J SOMMERS Brooklyn NY. I can't read the back mark on the other. The brass tag is interesting. It reads Henry Stevens New York. I googled that name and the was a very well to do man by that name during the civil war era. So time period is right with the stuff I've been finding there. Whether or not its the same guy is gonna take some research. I need to see if he had any ties to Newburgh NY. Look him up he was interesting Harvard Yale and the British museum.

Happy hunting everyone

Nice finds John. Thanks for sharing your research - neat!

Just for info, & I guess you know, some of your clues, the buttons are post-CW period.

Its strange but I've never had any type of heel plate over here yet, I wonder why?

I'm not sure what that plate with 2 hole's might be, but, I think all heal plates should have 3 or more holes.... but, nice you found a second heal plate...

Love the heel plate with the heart..Great Finds.. Congrats

I thought I read before that the heel plates with the hearts in them signified a street walker.

Nice finds. I like those heel plates.

Very nice relics, congratulations! :occasion14:

Nice finds. Congrats!

Great finds. Congrats

The one with two holes has countersunk holes like the other two. That would make sense you don't want the screws hanging out where they would get worn away quickly. If its not a heel plate any other ideas? The SOMMERS button has a depose Paris backmark. I read up on A J SOMMERS they were a scientific supply company in the 1800s.

Very nice heel plates and congrats!

John
