If you don't have Google Earth (The Program not Google Maps on the internet) you really need it, especially if you are looking for water spots on the river.

With google Earth you can look at maps going back as far as the 1950s in some cases. It will show you when the water goes up and down and where the people most congregate.

You have to click on VIEW... HISTORICAL DATA

It also allows you to mark all your areas that you have hunted in various ways including attaching it to a smartphone program like GPS Essentials which will actually map out your walking grids and upload them to Google Earth forming a visual pattern of the area you are working.

If you have a smart phone you can get GPS Essentials which has a ton of features. That way you can map out the areas you hunt in real time and export the files to Google Earth. GPS Essentials can record your "tracks" which will show you where you have hunted.

You can also mark all your finds in Google Earth which will give you important info. For instance, say you find 4 rings over the course of a month at a certain lake. You put all those in Google Earth and just so happen to notice they were all found between 610-620 Elevation, you now know that this elevation is HOT. This works well on bodies of water that rise and fall like rivers because it can give you an estimate of where the swimming holes are when the water is down low.

i'm on my laptop and i tried to use google earth pro but it won't let me i have been using historical aerial.com

I'm going back there in 15 mins... will post my findings when I return. Found one FOREVER ring today on my very first swing. It was not actually even a swing, I turned on the detector and it went off. Was right on top of a ring.
