No I couldn't find a pat. on the latern. This site has handed over some items that dates back to 1859.
 

Love the heart and the key! What do you suppose the heart went to? Lots of super keepers, River! :icon_thumright:

I don't really know what the Heart went to, but it has two small holes on the sholders of the hear, and the back is hollow. Looks like it might have had a back on it at one time. I though some kind of locket.
