Maybe that squirrel thinks you're nuts.

When I was 14, I rescued a tiny hairless squirrel that had fallen out of its nest from high above in a giant oak tree and miraculously survived. With good intentions, I raised it for a number of months before I realized it was a bad idea (long story). So when I eventually took it to a nature center, I got yelled at by the curators because the animal had now become accustomed to humans and had not developed any fear of them. I'll bet it became owl food later that day...though I hope not.

Nice finds!

Ok, another real quick story- so a long time ago I was rescuing a common snapping turtle that had been run over by a car. After two long years in rehab, the turtle was ready to be released back into a nearby lake. The problem was, is that over those two years, it had associated me with food and would go nuts every time I walked past its tank in the basement. So when the day came to set the turtle free, I drove it to the lake and placed it in ankle-deep water. It immediately backed out of the water and tried to follow me. I placed the turtle back into position and still, it kept trying to follow me. This happened about 8 times or so, so...

I looked around to make sure PETA wasn't around, and when I was convinced the coast was clear, I picked the turtle up and threw it about thirty feet into the deep water. lol, I had to do it, otherwise it would have followed me like the squirrel in the video. After confirming that the turtle survived to tell about its captive experience (I saw its head above water as it paddled away), I left, feeling really good.

Nice finds. That video has a good chance of going viral on youtube. Very cute.

Another great hunt Dave, congrats!

I think you could have trained the little guy to dig silver for you. :laughing7:

Great video Dave! Poor squirrel though...
Won't get far being so cozy to folks. I occasionally toss peanuts to the squirrels in the backyard and they get used to you very fast on an individual level. I've dozed off in the chair and awoke to find them literally in my face lookng for goodies, they get bolder the less you move and the more you snore...
Awesome hunt! Great finds!

Ohhh Dave! The shot of the little guy riding to the tree in your hand with the other guys laughing in the background is priceless!!! There aren't many taller than those who bend down to help a baby squirrel! :icon_king:

Great hunt!! Those finds are awesome, especially the Barber!!! WTG, Trifecta man!

That's a great video of you lending a helping hand
to that little guy :icon_sunny: It's only fair you were
rewarded with some really nice finds. . . awesome Barber

Thanks for sharing the great video. You should have taken him home and trained him to keep the park trolls at bay! :tongue3:
