Got a nice one, finally!

Hi all,

Been using a minelab PI machine for quite a few years now. I picked up a new XP Deus VLF machine and really like it.
The VLF machine allows me to do more than prospect for nuggets and it will still find the gold too.

Was shocked to see this nice 7 gram nugget come up using the XP.

Yes that is small bird shot, very happy with sensitivity on the new machine.

Was out a bunch of times this year with nothing to show. So when this nugget showed up I was amazed, was not expecting a nugget after digging so many bullets.
Patience and persistence pays off!!

Very trashy area, but only about 5" deep so most any detector would have hit on a nugget this size.

I can't even guesstimate the amount of trash I've dug while chasing nuggets; so, I'm glad you stuck with it and didn't let all of that trash discourage you. Far too many nugget hunters let that overabundance of trash discourage them, but as long as you're finding trash, you know the ground isn't cleaned of targets yet . . .

Oh, and the other thing about trash, it masks targets too, so there's another reason to dig the trash so you can hear the whispers it's hiding.

For the Xp settings and coil, I have the HF elliptical coil and had switched from a very sensitive Gmax program back to #1 basic.
The bird shot got out of control and I didn't want to hear it anymore so I put it in dumbed down mode preset#1

if you find a dry creek and lots of bird shot in the bedrock, dont walk away. clean it out. maybe the first 20-30 signals will be trash, but then it will start paying, if youre in a gold area.
