Got any reworked pieces to show?

Im sure everyone has found at least 1 and have wondered how it happened to get from the start of 1 period then reworked into something else in another period of time. I wonder what they thought when they found this piece many years later? If we find them you know ancient man did to. This piece looks to be early archaic or older by the flaking then broken and reworked later by the woodland people to a end scraper or knife with a strange tip. By the break area it was probably a much longer knife at one time then reworked as you see it today. I found it this week. Lets see some of yours.

See that is why I post some of my finds here to get a good I.D. on what I find. I just dont find many drill type artifacts but yes I can see it now. Thanks quito

It it didn't take a very big drill to put a hole in a shell or other things that didn't require a large or long drill bit

I would not rework a piece that I have found as I place way too much value on them but I have bought some in Texas at a tourist trap for .50 each and reworked them into valuable hunting points. Would be kind of neat to use an old point twice. One by the maker and once by a modern day hunter.

I would venture a guess and say that a lot of hafted scrapers were once hunting points that broke.

If an early piece was reworked by a later culture, you might be able to note a patina difference. Many times, they are reworked by the maker, of course, and not by a later culture. Natives did collect as well, though. Once I found a very water worn point in a field, far the beach where it had likely been found and brought back to camp.

Here are scrapers likely fashioned from points, perforators fashioned from points, an Otter Creek point with rounded tip, and a small square of steatite fashioned from a sherd. Maybe it was to be a game piece or bead.....

Doesnt look broken more like the base was left as is. Looks like the natural rind at the base. Interesting piece.
