Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
Went to a local swimming hole near my house that I haven't hunted in almost 10 years. Its a private beach with a fence around it so I went to another public access and stepped into warm water. It was about a 100 yard wade in knee deep water but the further I went, the hotter the water became. :o It had to be 90 to 100 degrees, like a sauna. I figured I could hunt for a little while as the targets were many. A lot of trash, a couple of Clad quarters, 3 dimes and four pennies and the Skeg off a boat motor in about 30 minutes. :) Had the water been cooler and the air temperature the same, i probably would have done better. ;D
It took me longer getting back to the car than when I arrived. Guess heat index was about 105, really too HOT for TH'ing. >:( I'll have to stick to fresh water springs where the water is always 72 degrees. ;)
This happened in Central Florida, if the water is warm, don't chance it. You'll find out what its like to be a boiled shrimp. :D

You're talking about Water Amoeba's. I was wading, not diving.
"It passes through the nose into what's called the curbriform plate in nose and then to the brain area,” said Dr. Kevin Sherin, the Director of the Orange County Health Department. “That's where our sense of smell is, in the brain area and that's where the infection enters the brain.” This is more a danger to children and teenagers as the curbriform plate is porous but as we age, it becomes solid like bone and such infections are rare in adults when I asked a doctor about it.
I always use a face mask anyway if I'm underwater so there is no chance of it going up my nose.
I was more afraid of passing out from heat exhaustion and drowning than the latter. So I got out of the water. ;)
