Got my first detector today - BH Gold Digger

Second hand unit, tried it in the driveway with a few coins, seems to work fine. Anyone have any experience with it?

Has a built-in speaker, no headphone jack. I may solder one in, not sure.

It is little more then a toy, hope you didn't pay more then a few dollars for it at the most. It is one of the cheapest models made by Bounty Hunter with almost no features and little power. It will detect any metal for a few inches, doubt you will get more then 4 or 5 inches at max, if that much. If it peaks your interest in detecting then it is good, if it frustrates you remember you get what you pay for.

Not saying you need a $1000 detector, but if you really want to learn to detect, get a good beginners detector at least......

Well, I traded on craigslist for a BB gun that I got for free, so I'm gonna say that I got a decent deal on it. :)

It's something to start a hobby with while unemployed, no?

I'm mostly gonna use it for beach-hunting, seeing as I live on the coast.

Do you have a pic?

The Bounty Gold digger that is sold today has a headphone jack.

Very simple machine and great to learn on but you will upgrade in a week.

I use Bounty Hunter almost exclusively and the newer Gold Digger is great for the grandkids

The Bounty Hunter Gold Digger should have a 1/8 jack for headphones on it.

Make sure it's a Bounty Hunter and not a China copy.

If that is where you want to hunt, afraid your going to find it's not really going to work very much at the beach if you hunt where it has been wet, you need something that can handle the salt mineralization found at salt water beaches. You only have 2 controls on yours power, and Trash Eiminator (discrimination), so turn down the sensitivity (power) on it to see if it stablizes, use no discrimination at all...

You can't beat free, but to compare.....imagine you like to watch DVD movies, you just got a 4" B&W tv to plug your DVD player into to watch them on, it will work some what, but your not going to enjoy the hobby much............Like Jeep says if you find you enjoy the hobby, you will be wanting to upgrade very, very soon.

Good luck and again welcome to TreasureNet....
