Got my new Safari yesterday and I like the way it feels, handles and done some air testing. But am stuck in the house. Its been raining all week. It did stop for part of a day and I got out for a while with my Omega. Found some coins in one spot and a ring in another. Then the rain came back. But I had been anxiously waiting for the Safari to arrive. And it did. And it looks like a lake outside.
I was out having to load some cattle in the stuff. And then I got hit with sleet and hail both. Cant win for losing this week.
I got the standard coil with the Safari and also got one of the 5 inch excellerator coils. Tested the small coil and was pleased with the response in the air testing. Course, couldnt get outside to do anything. Its supposed to stop raining sometime this morning and stay dry for a few days. I hope. But as much rain as we got the ground is saturated and most of the places I go to I need 4 wheel drive on good days. No way I will be able to get to them for now. So maybe I will try to hit a tot lot this afternoon if the sun comes out and dries things out a bit. Got one other spot I have only gone to once that I might try. I can park on the road and walk to it. Old church site in a pasture now. Its actually a historical site, it was one of the oldest churches in the state. Got the historical marker and all. But the actual site is on private property and the owner is a close friend. But I just never got the chance to go swinging a coil on it except for one time about 4 or 5 weeks ago. And it was so cold and windy that I didnt stay long, especially when it started to snow.
Its in a well drained spot so I figure if the sun does come out, its going to help it dry it out some more too.
I did discover that first short trip there that were alot of nails on the site which was to be expected since the building was torn down and the foundation bulldozed up. I figure the chance of finding anything will be further out from the actual building site. Likey out where they held picnics and outdoor gatherings and the parking area. The church had been there since 1884 so buggy and horse parking long before autos. I did find some trash but it wasnt as thick as I would have expected. The did a good job on cleaning the site. I dont think that its been detected before though it could have been. But my friend hasnt had anyone on it and the previous owner I also know since I bought my place from him, and he never alllowed anyone on it to detect. So only if someone went on without permission.
I have other homestead sites to go to but they are out of reach till it dries up quite a bit. But those are really trashy sites.
