My special "Erosion Beach" has been pretty sterile recently and I've avoided it for a month or so. Then last Wednesday I decided to give My usuaL, Seal Beach, a rest and try Erosion Beach.
Well it was a huge surprise! Targets at almost every swing. Looks like sand has been pulled away and some new depth exposed. Most of the targets were old clad from 60's and 70's and deeply encrusted. I really enjoy finding those because I know the potential is there.
YEP, I hit a Big One! Down at the waterline about 5" deep a big signal and a big gray disc sitting in the bottom of the scooped hole. This is my 4th Silver half (I've got a Kennedy and Franklin and another Walker all from this same beach) ... a 1921S Walker.
Well the rest of the time was just a bonus and I picked up a 1960 Rosie and a curious German coin with a hole.
Well that 10 pfenning Reichspfenning is actually the most interesting find after all.
There's a reason (not readily apparent) for the hole which my research discovered ... Any guesses? I'll post an answer but I don't think it'll be necessary.
