We finally visited our first GPAA claim. Nancys Gold, near Foresthill, CA.

The directions are easy enough, getting to the site is not a problem. Getting to the water was another issue altogether. It is about a 800 foot hike at a steep grade to get to the water, maybe more. The path is littered with loose/broken slate. The path itself is little more than 24" across butted against a cliff that could possibly kill you if you slip.

That being said, once the water is reached, there are ample spots for prospecting. We left with very little gold, spent to much of the day just test panning with very little luck. Flour gold was all I personally found, but another GPAA member that was on site, did find a few flakes.

It is a coin toss whether we will be back here.
