Grape Shot?

I found this in an area that would have been pretty active during the French and Indian War. It is lead, and I put a nickle next to it for scale. I don't know what the coating is, it may be just the way the lead has weathered.
All I can think is that it's grape shot, but I don't know very much about these things. I'm hoping there's an "expert" out there.

Neat find. Trk5capt, I thought the small lead ones were "case shot" and the iron ones were grape. Am I wrong? You always have some great finds also...d2

it could just be a piece of lead that they used to make bullets

Depends On When Where And Who Made Them, Have Seen Lead And Iron In Both Case And Grape Also Have Seen Confederate Case Loaded With Mini Bullets. trk5capt...
