Hi everybody,:hello:

Last night, I was digging a grave in my backyard, for my pet lizard that passed away:(
About a foot down and under a decent sized root, I found this bottle.
On the front it says - Durco Brand
- Waukegan, IL
- 7 FLD. Oz

The bottom has - D. B.

Waukegan is close by, about half hour from me. But I have never heard of Durco Brand before and haven't found any info online???
Anybody know anything about this bottle or company?
Thanks in advance!

Durco brand ice cream and carbonated drinks were made by the Durkin Ice Cream Company. Here’s one of their adverts from 1924 in “The Deerfield”… a journal published by the Senior Class of Deerfields-Shield High School, Highland Park, Illinois.

Not sure when the company was founded but it looks to have been a small, regional and probably short-lived company. There’s no trademark registration for ‘Durco’. The Durkin company was acquired by the Hydrox Corporation on 1st September 1924 and its assets dissolved the following year.

Awesome!
Thanks Red-Coat :occasion14:
The amount of cool old stuff I've found in my little yard amazes me.

Certainly an eye catching title to your post:laughing7:

thats a thick bottom on that bottle nice find

Where there's one there's usually more. You might want to try digging a deeper test hole in that area.

First and foremost, sorry about your pet. Next, I collect soda bottles and that one’s kind of cool.

Thank you and sorry for your loss.

I actually donated the bottle to the Waukegan History Museum. The folks at the historical society where pretty interested in the bottle.
They said it’s extremely rare and brought back some forgotten history of the city.

Wow! That ad really makes me wanna try the soda and ice cream!

OP time to start digging for more fun stuff!
