Gravel Hill Field - Day 5 & 6...

Yesterday (Saturday) we spent 3.5 hours carrying on our grid pattern to find the limits of the site. When I got home my internet connection was bust, & I will have to wait until Monday for a fix :BangHead: So I'm posting from Dads today to show the weekends efforts.

21 Roman Coins
Medieval Square Mount
& bits...

Re: Gravel Hill Field - Day 5 & 6...

Today we started early at just before 10:00am, the ground was slightly frozen & a sleet shower or two made us feel the cold for the first time this year. However, it soon brighten up & turn pretty mild again :)
3.5 Hours again & oddly 21 Roman Coins like yesterday :laughing7:
This now smashes any previous Roman Coin Count for the month of Dec & we are yet to finish (although may only get 1 or 2 other days before other commitments).

2 Jettons
1 Rose Farthing
15th C Locking Buckle
Nice Medieval Beehive Thimble :)
Tudor Book Clasp

What is strange is we now nearly have 100 Roman Coins from the field without a Silver, & a few medieval signs without a hammered. Can't have it all our way, but we must be close :-\

(Having problems loading the pictures from Dad's set up, will add soon)

Re: Gravel Hill Field - Day 5 & 6...

those roman coins are just too cool :headbang: :headbang:

Re: Gravel Hill Field - Day 5 & 6...

It's unreal that it hasn't given up a hammered yet :-\ Some nice Romans though!

Looks like it beat babysitting ;D

Re: Gravel Hill Field - Day 5 & 6...

I've always wondered but now I'm finally going to ask- What do you do with your finds? Do you keep everything? (besides treasure trove of course) Pics of the whole collection?

Earlier in the year we had 1 poor hammered from this field but out in the middle on it's own. Hopefully there are a couple more, but it a massive field & we have not even covered 1% yet, we needed another XP :whip2:

I keep everything that isn't given to the land owners as I'm a collector. It's not possible to picture the whole collection as it would take days, plus lots are displayed at the local Museum. :icon_thumright:

What is your single most favorite thing you've ever found out of the whole collection?

Re: Gravel Hill Field - Day 5 & 6...

Instant collection :blob7: Well that's just sick :whip2: I can't get over how many buttons and coins you all consistently dig :notworthy: Awesome digs :headbang:

Re: Gravel Hill Field - Day 5 & 6...

You guys across the pond are killing it. You can get more in one day then a colonial can in a life time. :notworthy: Congrats on an other superb hunt. Let me know if you ever need a hand with one of your fields I would be happy to lend a hand.

Re: Gravel Hill Field - Day 5 & 6...

Cru team, congrats on a really fun a good two days. Love the thimble, and just one question, none of the Romans is good to show in detail?

I'm back finally after a lot of work, and have some posts to make, but never 21 Romans in one day...have to keep researching.

Congrats
