Had an interresting day today.
8 silver dimes
1920 S
1940 S
1935 S
1937 P
1951 D
1949 S
1948 D
1948 S

The ring I am pretty sure is gold, but I am not seeing a stamp -- it is pretty heavy and thick and the digital on the explorer was 11/04

Total wheat back count was 26 for the day -- with quite a few early dates -- the best find was the 1914 D wheat penny though -- tried to get a good pic -- little nervous about cleaning it :o :o

Sunday at the old ballpark

Hit the spot again for a couple of hours -- got 9 wheats -- 3 mercs 1936s, 1937p & 1943s -- and a silver Catholic medal.

WOW you have a great site to hunt. Very nice coins. Burdie

Absolutely incredible day! That would be a successful year for some people!

Congrats!

Jeff

Nice job again! I would think you it would be easier to scrath a coin with a toothbrush than a toothpick, because as the crud comes off, it gets in the bristles and wipes the surface of the coin, fine scratches. I use a toothpick very gently from the side of the point, and "lift" off the crud. It's slow, but does a good job for me.

Whatever you do, don't use olive oil. I've read on coppercoins.com that you shouldn't and I've tried it a coupel of times and it destroys the coins. If you feel you must clean it, try mineral oil, but you really should not clean it at all since it's a semi key date. Put it in a holder and leave it at that. That's a great find, don't take the chance of ruining it. by cleaning it. If you really feel the need to, send it in to get it cleaned.

Wow!!! looks like you had the best day ever.Great digs!!!

Great Job, Can you get a close up on the ring?? HH Art...

;) it won't look any different -- pretty blan -- I actually went to polish it and nothing at all came off the ring -- might not be gold -- Anyone know of any other metal that will ID like gold and not corode at all? I found it about 4-5 inchs down, so it had to spend a few years down there at the least. THere are zero markings -- other than scrape marks on the inside.

Gabbit,

Awesome finds at the old ballpark. More out there...go git em.

HH :)
