Great Hunt With TF & L4S - 03/15/10
Like the title says, got out for a great day of hunting with L4S and TreasureFiend today. I wasn't planning on getting but TF PM'd me last night to ask if Jon and I were getting out. As we didn't have anything planned, I called Jon and he said he was in. Charged up the detector and got my sleep on.
We met up at the "trash pit" at 8:00am and got to swinging. I was on the board first with a pocket spill containing two 1941 Mercs, a 1916(plain
), 35' Buffalo, and a wheatie. About an hour later we stopped for a breather and conversed for 15 min or so and got back to work. A few feet away from where we were standing I squeezed out a silver Roosie, 1964!
For the next few hours I was finding the random wheatie and some clad as well as a Wednesday Company token and on the way back to the cars to move locations, I found the .925 ring, and came upon a deep dime signal along the parking drive. I popped the plug and out popped a marble. Sweet! Scanned the hole with the probe and nothing. widened the insides and still couldn't find a signal. Closed the plug and rescanned and the signal came back but broken. Noticing I had an authoritative audience at that point I decided to give up and secured the plug.
The rest of the hunt was a bust(I was actually taking it easy so the other two guys could catch up
). Both of them managed some AWESOME coinage and I think TF had a change of heart about the "trash pit".
At the end of the hunt I revisited that deep dime signal only to recover a huge rusty nail.
