What I do, is I put in my city and just download the entire spreadsheet. Then I load it up and search for the word "historical", and I have been able to find old military bases, airfields, etc.
My favorite site of all is Historic Aerials that is another good one that I find many are not aware of. You can do really neat slide and dissolve effects between various satellite and topo maps. The topos go back very far for some states, such as Louisiana.
