green stoned/glass pin brooch??

Found this at an old farm site dating back to the 1700's, it is about 1 1/4 inches long by 5/8 inches wide, appears to be brass or copper...no hallmarks or any other identification on it. The stone is not plastic, but other that that can;t tell if it is a gem or glass...Any ideas on what it was and how old? Thanks.

Early 1900's costume jewelry. Could we see the back?
Is there a catch or pin on back, that would pinpoint time period.

Nothing on the back, wahtever was there broke off long ago and is no longer there, can;t really tell what it was.
