Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Hi, I'm a new user. I have actually been doing metal detecting for a while, but I just registered to this site. I'm interested in finding relics, coins, and anything interesting that sets off a metal detector lol. I just recently found traces of metal in rocks at Soldiers Delight. I'm also interested in building things and I have been building my own metal detector (a crude PI metal detector that uses a hex-Schmidt trigger, a capacitor, and an induction coil all connected to a frequency counter and batteries).

In the past, most of what I have found is without a metal detector, just sharp eyes and educated guessing: I have found a suspected meteorite (decent paper weight size, found in the predicted debris field of the Kincardine Bolide in Lake Huron, resembles the fragments from the Sikhote-Alin bolide, tested with a pinpointer, geiger counter, etc.), various coins, and even ores on occasion. I have had two metal detectors in the past, but never really found anything of note with them lol.

I'm also interested in exploring and like checking out places like caves (including "unmaintained" "wild" caves), abandoned places, etc. Treasure legends interest me a bit as well, particularly as I am into history.

I am also looking for a hunting buddy, so if you are in the area let me know!

Welcome Jayburn! Soldier's delight was a chromium mining area if I recall correctly. Lots of mineralization there. I hunt near there on occasion. I am right down the road in Baltimore.
