In the photo see how the bigger piece that hasnt actualy formed into A Garnet crystal? Lets say I dug up a piece the size of a softball like that just a big mass. What kind of value could it have? I need a dollar amount to put on it but I dont know. (If any.) Ive seen some on web sites that sell gems ect. some like what im talking about go for as much as a couple grand.:dontknow: P3112219.webp

As is.. has almost no value other than it could be of value to you or someone you know.. Good sample to show others.. However the large Garnet should be extracted and taken to a gemologist. Allow them to examine, If proven worthy of cutting You could be looking at a couple of grand.. but again.. a value placed on an item doesn't mean one will get that much for it.. just depends upon the buyer and the cut/facet your able to get out of it.
Take for instance.. while gem hunting in NC.. I found a muddy stone and handed it to the onsite gemologist.. (mind you this was when I first started searching for stones) it didn't take him long to respond by saying "this is the darkest sapphire I've ever seen" We had the sapphire faceted and its worth about 5,000 - 8,000 but again.. that's someone else appraisal.
