Hello,
I have been reading as much as I can on these two detectors and have a DeLeon on the way as a result.
I used to detect alot in the 80's and am getting back into it. Back then, I started with a White's Coinmaster 1, then later a CM4.
With these TR detectors if you held the loop in the air and turned up the gain (for want of a better word), for a faint sound, then lowered the loop, the sound would fade as it got close to the ground. The gain could then be increased and you could search. If you raised the loop, you got BEEEEEP. So the idea was to have gain as high as you could on the ground, and back it off if you wanted to raise the loop for any reason(like checking a plug).
Later I got a Coinmaster 5D with Ground Exclusion Balance(GEB). This was nice as you could lower the loop as previous but with GEB control it could be "balanced' so that a faint tone would stay constant whether the loop was on the ground or not. (The gain could be turned down a tad for silent search)
The GEB only worked in all metal mode.
My questions are:
Is this what a Vaquero is like with it's GB control? How does it work with "pre-set" ground control like on the DeLeon?
Since coin hunting is my main use, I went with the DeLeon after reading so much positive stuff about it. Lots of good things read on the Vaquero as well, so maybe I'll end up getting one as well.
I'm looking forward to the lightweight and better ergonomics of the Tesoros compared to the CM5.
