Were back in Kansas. Found two cents today. One was a wheat back under a bush. YTD 7.94

Today we were riding our bicycles and I saw a dime on the shoulder. I stopped to get it and saw more coins. I finally layed my bike down and started picking them up. I got 15 dimes, 5 cents, 1 nickel and 1 quarter. They were all within 20 feet of each other. Somebody had to throw out a handful at the stoplight but I still wonder why they do that. Todays total 1.85, YTD 7.44 When I get back to Kansas in about three weeks the finds will get slimmer.

I think they either throw them at the corner panhandlers who either don't notice or don't get them all, or they are dropped by the panhandlers.


Also, I was inspired by you guys to keep count this year. I keep a spreadsheet here at work. I'm up to $8.56 in cash plus a $25 gift card. Not sure if you guys would count that in your totals or if it's strictly cash.

I've only found one gift card that I checked, it had 22 cents on it. No panhandlers where I was, I just think people throw out the loose change for the fun of it.

That's kinda weird. Found a dollar hanging out of one of the vending machines at work today. It's like the machine rejected it but nobody bothered to take it with the couple of dimes and some pennies I found Friday, I'm up to $34.79 (counting the gift card)

Had no clue you guys were running a thread on ground finds... I do this too... do you mind if I jump the thread and play along? my qualifications are ONLY $ I find "on the clock".. you know, while working. I have a pile of work finds, MD finds, pocket change, and they have been , and will always be separate entities.. you guys do this too? My friends think I have no life... on the contrary, I amuse myself w/ the fact that while money means a lot in life, it is fun to play w/ it first, kinda makes me appreciate it more..BWD

Hello BigWaveDave, Welcome, We count all eyeball finds, on the ground, in machines or whatever. When I'm in town I ride my bicycle a lot scanning the curbs. Most think it is a waste but I really enjoy it.
