Went out this morning to an area along bayou that was dredged. . Dug this at about 8 inches. appears to be cast. Wish that I could get a sense of time period

Yours appears to date mid 1800's or later, here's some reference. The last pic is CW period.

here is one I dug a while back...came from a site that was occupied from the 1840s to the 80s. sometimes we find older implements that were used a long time before being unusable. pics are from before and during conservation.
